DDDevelop The Healing Village and Knowledge Centre is guided by the wisdom of our Elders, lived-experience advisors, and community members. The Village provides living spaces, healing and gathering areas, and social enterprise facilities to support women, girls and two-spirit people from Manitoba and across Canada.
With the capacity to impact hundreds of people each year, the Village will model food and economic sovereignty while offering on-site and outreach programming—creating a blueprint that can be replicated in other communities nationwide.
To make this happen, we have built ceremonial structures and are in the process of building living areas for staff, Elders and the women, girls and 2 Spirit relatives who have been victims of trauma.
The Healing Village and Knowledge Centre will:
- Serve and impact women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA relatives from Manitoba, and from across Canada annually, through short/mid/long term supports.
- Become a replicable model that can be used in other communities across the country and will include
- Provide Elder, resident and staff housing
- Include a communal kitchen and long house
- Develop food and economic sovereignty planning
- Offer on-site and outreach programming
